This policy explains how Rug Cleaning Pro (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores and shares personal information, and how you can access it, correct it or make a complaint. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

  • Quote requests and enquiries: your name, phone number, email address, details about your rugs, and any photos you upload. You give us this through our website quote form, by email, by phone or in person.
  • Pickup, cleaning and delivery: your address and access details, and notes and photos of your rug before and after cleaning or repair.
  • Payments: what you paid for and your payment records. Card payments are processed by the payment provider; we do not keep full card numbers.
  • Website use: technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you arrived, collected through cookies (see section 5).

You can contact us without giving your name. However, we may not be able to quote, collect or deliver without contact details.

2. Why we collect it

  • To give quotes and arrange pickup, cleaning, repair and delivery.
  • To process payments and keep business and tax records.
  • To send you updates or offers, but only if you have agreed. You can ask us to stop at any time by email or phone, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To understand how our website is used and improve it.
  • To keep our website secure and free of spam.

We do not sell personal information.

3. Who we share it with

  • Service providers who run our website and email: DigitalOcean (website hosting, Sydney), Cloudflare (website delivery and security) and Zoho Mail (business email, Australian data centre).
  • Google Analytics, which tells us how the website is used (see section 5).
  • Our partner showroom, Sarabi’s Fine Rugs, which shares our phone line and premises, where needed to handle your rug.
  • Our professional advisers, insurers, and authorities where the law requires or allows it.

4. Overseas

Google and Cloudflare may process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. Our website hosting and email are in Australia. When information goes overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies to keep it working and, through Google Analytics, to see which pages are useful. Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, your device and browser, and your approximate location. We do not use it for advertising. Our website fonts are served from our own server, not from Google.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site still works if you block cookies. Google explains how it uses this data in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

6. How we keep it safe

Our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our systems is limited to people who need it. We keep backups, and protect them so only those people can read them. We keep personal information, including uploaded photos, only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires (for example, tax records). After that, we delete or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you, and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

7. Automated decisions

We do not use computer programs to make decisions that significantly affect your rights or interests.

8. Access and correction

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Email [email protected] or call (02) 9417 7829. We will reply within 30 days. We do not charge for making a request. If we cannot give you access, we will explain why, unless the law says we cannot.

9. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at [email protected]. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

10. Other websites

Our site links to other websites, such as our social media pages. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
